The Season begins.......
We are very pleased to announce that our association was successful in its bid to host a CAN PITCH program. This is a nationally developed pitching program using Softball Canada's Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) Model as the framework for effective teaching at each level. The program identifies key drills that reinforce the proper mechanics and teach the fundamental skills of pitching. The CANpitch program is all about the quality of instruction so that all participants receive consistent messaging and the most current coaching principles. Softball Ontario has trained Regional Pitching Instructors from all over Ontario, who for six weeks will teach key pitching fundamentals to help increase the overall quality of the participants pitching skills. Our kids will be learning from instructors trained to ensure the best and who will focus on gently encouraging our kids to embrace the love of pitching.
Each child will receive a t-shirt and progress card.
Please note that each session will be capped at 10 pitchers/hour – so get your forms in as soon as possible:
FUNdamentals Stage (Starting at ages 6-9 years) – 6:30 PM
The FUNdamental Stage is the entry level for young pitchers. At this level participants will learn the proper instruction of grip, wrist snap, arm rotation, and stride (should be a priority).
Learning to Train Stage (Starting at ages 10-12 years or older) – 7:30 PM
In the Learning to Train Stage, participants continue to learn fundamental pitching skills. The goal of this stage is to systematically build on the skills learned in the FUNdametnal Stage by increasing the speed of motion and throwing to basic targets while focusing on the coordination of the arms and legs, the power line and throwing strikes.
